Introducing Kitchen Academy

We're really excited to launch Kitchen Academy on the Moravian University campus. You asked for more opportunities to connect and learn from our team - so we have a fun and educational way to bring it to you while teaching you valuable skills you'll remember forever!

Kitchen Academy pairs up interested students with one of our most versatile chefs, Paul Dugan, to learn about proper knife technique, how to make fresh pasta and how to host a party featuring a fancy berry dessert. All of our recipes are plant-based, which you can alter to include the protein or meat of your choice. Sign up for one, or for all three - and if you sign up for all of the classes, you'll receive a $5 discount. Each class is limited to 15 students. We encourage you to sign up for class once you are absolutely sure that you can attend.

Class information:

CHOP LIKE A CHEF | Wednesday, February 8th | 
6-7 pm in the UBC Room
Learn basic knife skills and how to make different cuts depending on what you are cooking. This class includes knife safety and develops a comfort level with knife-handling. We will be chopping vegetables for veggie fried rice, then we'll cook and sample our dish.  1 hour. $15.

THE ART OF PASTA | Wednesday, March 8th | 6-7 pm in the UBC Room
A skill that will totally impress and is easier than you think - making fresh pasta. We'll discuss the chemistry of fresh pasta and how it works, and we'll even talk about ways to make your pasta more colorful by adding vegetable ingredients. Then we'll make a fresh tomato sauce and cook and eat our creations. 1 hour. $15.

DID SOMEONE SAY PARTY? | Wednesday, April 5th | 6-7 pm in the UBC Room
You've probably attended lots of social gatherings, but have you ever hosted one? We'll teach you the etiquette and processes involved in hosting a dinner party and then how to impress your guests by making a fresh berry dessert and fresh whipped cream. We'll also make a fancy, edible sugar tuile bowl that looks beautiful!  You'll also get to sample your dessert. 1 hour. $15.

Classes are payable using Dining Dollars, Hound Bucks or credit/debit card.

Classes are first-come, first-served. If we exceed 15 people per class, we will start a waiting list. Attendees are responsible for notifying us if they cannot attend.  If you notify us 7 days or more in advance of the class, we will replace your seat with the waiting list members. If an attendee schedules the class and does not attend, they will be charged the full amount of the class if we are not able to find a replacement in time.

If you are paying by credit card, you must make arrangements to stop into the Star to pay for your class, at least 7 days before the class. If you do not pay for your class in that timeframe, your seat will be relinquished.
