First Year Meal Plans
Living on Campus? Most first-year students default to our Hound Unlimited 5 Day plan. You also have the option to upgrade to our Gold Unlimited Meal Plan or change to the Hound 200 plan.
Commuting? You are not required to have a meal plan; however, Commuters can choose from ANY of our student meal plans, or can add Hound Bucks. Dine on campus, get free bonus dollars, and choose convenience and great value!
Meal Plan Options
First year resident students are required to hold at minimum a Hound Unlimited 5-day plan. Meal plan options for future years are available to you depend on what type of housing you select. Further information can be found on our Meal Plan page.
Tips for First Year Students:
- Hound Unlimited 5-Day does not include meal swipes on weekends. You can use the Dining Dollars tied to your plan in every dining location including on weekends, but you will pay $7.50 for breakfast, $12.25 for lunch and $14 for dinner in The Star or Clewell. If you are a student not involved in athletics or weekend activities, consider switching your meal plan to the Hound 200 , or upgrading to the Gold Unlimited . Instructions for changing your meal plan are listed on our FAQ page.
- Unlimited meal plans are easy to use for those new to budgeting meal swipes - there's no limit to how many times you come in during a day/week.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few of the top questions that students and parents have about meal plans. If you have a question that is not answered here, please reach out to us via our Contact page.
- If they live on campus as an undergraduate resident student, yes. First-year students (even in suites with kitchens) are required to carry at minimum the Hound Unlimited plan.
- Commuter students are not required to have a meal plan, but may opt for any meal plan, including meal plans for resident students.
- Grad students living on campus are not required to have a meal plan, but also may opt for any plan they choose.
Is my student required to have a meal plan?
- If they live on campus as an undergraduate resident student, yes. First-year students (even in suites with kitchens) are required to carry at minimum the Hound Unlimited plan.
- Commuter students are not required to have a meal plan, but may opt for any meal plan, including meal plans for resident students.
- Grad students living on campus are not required to have a meal plan, but also may opt for any plan they choose.
How does my/my student's meal plan work?
All meal plans have two components: meal swipes and Dining Dollars. Meal swipes are redeemable for "all you care to eat" in our two campus restaurants: The Star (in the Haupert Union Building, North Campus) and Clewell (in Peter Hall, South Campus). You will present your ID card at the door (AKA "swipe in") and can choose from anything and as much you like. The default resident student meal plan, Hound Unlimited 5 Day, has unlimited meal swipes 5 days per week (between Sunday dinner and Friday lunch), and allows for students to use Dining Dollars in our retail locations or student restaurants between Friday dinner and Sunday lunch.
Dining Dollars are a declining balance fund that can be used at any dining location on campus. Typically, Dining Dollars are used to purchase things from our retail locations on campus: The Blue & Grey Café, DeLight's Café and Clewell Convenience. They can also be used to pay the door rate at The Star or Clewell.
Meal plans are loaded onto a student's ID card and the student presents their ID card upon entering the dining room or upon checkout from one of our retail locations. Students who lose their IDs (or have a damaged ID card) will not be admitted to the dining room - so it's important that students immediately report any lost or stolen ID cards. Students can do so by logging into eAccounts here: https://moravian-sp.transactcampus.com/eaccounts/AnonymousHome.aspx , and selecting "Card Services" to deactivate a card that has been lost or stolen. The card can also be "reactivated" if found. To report a damaged/broken campus ID card, students should contact Campus Safety immediately.
What options are suitable for Commuters?
Commuters have two great options for dining on campus:
-
Opt for any meal plan - depending on the number of meals they will be eating on campus, meal plans give a great amount of flexibility, with both meal swipes and Dining Dollars. The larger the meal plan selected, the better the per-meal rate offered.
-
Purchase Hound Bucks - Hound Bucks are independent of a meal plan, can be used at any dining location on campus, and don't expire (until you graduate/leave the University). Plus, when you add $1-$199 Hound Bucks, you get 10% free dollars. Add $200+ Hound Bucks, you get 20% free dollars as a bonus.
Commuters can also purchase things in our stores with credit/debit or cash, but you save 6% sales tax when you use a meal plan, and your plan is conveniently loaded onto your student ID, without having to stop by an ATM or carry a debit/credit card. Dining on campus also saves you the hassle of leaving campus and losing your parking spot. Also, if you add Hound Bucks, you get free bonus money added to your account.
Do Meal Swipes/Dining Dollars expire?
Yes. Meal swipes expire each semester - so use them up to get the most value for your meal plan! Dining dollars associated with meal plans roll over from Fall to Spring semester ONLY. At the end of Spring semester, they expire. Hound Bucks, added independently of a meal plan, do not expire until you leave Moravian University.
Will 5 Days of Unlimited Meals be enough for my student?
It really depends on your student's schedule. First year students who are new to campus and have not yet joined activities or who are not participating in sports may find themselves wanting to dine in The Star or Clewell on weekends and may want to look at the Hound 200 (which allows 200 swipes per semester in all locations on all days), or the Gold Unlimited plan (which allows unlimited meal swipes, 7 days per week). With the unlimited plans, students adjusting to their school schedule can stop in for breakfast, a snack, coffee or lunch or dinner when it best suits them and as many times as they need without worrying about running out of meal swipes.
We have found, through student feedback and attendance tracking, that most upperclass students come in to our locations during the week; but often opt on weekends to go out with friends, order food, or eat in our retail locations instead of hitting The Star or Clewell. We believe the Hound Unlimited 5 Day plan provides the ultimate in value and flexibility and provides what students want.
If a parent or student would like unlimited meals for 7 days per week, they have the option to upgrade to our Unlimited Gold Meal Plan, which offers unlimited meal swipes 7 days per week during the semester. Upgrades are only available through the first two weeks of the semester, though, so that's typically a decision that needs to be made early in the process.
- To change or upgrade your meal plan, a student will need to email Housing.
An additional option is to add Hound Bucks (which don't expire until you graduate/leave the University), which can be added to a student's account at any point during the semester. We do have a Rechargeable 10 block meal plan available this year for students on a Commuter, Silver or Bronze plan (typically for upper class people) if they are running low on meal swipes.
To add Hound Bucks, students can easily do so by logging in to our Student Account system, eAccounts, at https://moravian-sp.transactcampus.com/eaccounts/AnonymousHome.aspx
- Log in using your AMOS ID, which is student's email address and network password.
- To add Hound Bucks, click on "Add Money" on the Hound Bucks account displayed on the home screen.
- Follow the prompts for amount and payment information.
- Make sure to click the "Finalize Deposit" button on the last screen (after submitting credit card info), or funds will not be deposited.
- Go into Account Transactions to see your Hound Bucks or Dining Dollar balances and usage history. Select Board Plan History to see meal swipes usage and balance.
Parents can log in through our eAccounts page as well to add Hound Bucks: https://moravian-sp. transactcampus.com/eaccounts/AnonymousHome.aspx .

- Enter your student's ID card # (a 6-digit number that starts with a "5")
- Follow the prompts for amount and payment information.
- Make sure to click the "Finalize Deposit" button on the last screen (after submitting credit card info), or funds will not be deposited.

- Follow the prompts for amount and payment information.
- Make sure to click the "Finalize Deposit" button on the last screen (after submitting credit card info), or funds will not be deposited.
How do I see my meal plan balance/meals and Dining Dollars remaining?
Students can easily log in to our Student Account system, eAccounts, here: https://moravian-sp.transactcampus.com/eaccounts/AnonymousHome.aspx
- To log in, use your AMOS ID, which is student's email address and network password.
- Select "Account Transactions" for Dining Dollars and Hound Bucks history and balance.
- Select "Board Transactions" to see a meal swipe balance and history.
We encourage students to become familiar with checking your balance to effectively manage your meal plan usage.
Students can also ask for their balance upon swiping in to The Star or Clewell or checking out at any dining location, or select "Balance inquiry" when using a self-service ordering kiosk.
How do I add or change a meal plan?
For Resident students, meal plans are added during the Housing selection process and automatically default to Hound Unlimited 5 Day. You can upgrade to Unlimited Gold anytime until the Add/Drop date for classes through Housing's meal plan portlet in
AMOS: https://amos.moravian.edu/ICS/Campus_Life/Student_Life/Meal_Plan_Selection_Portlet.jnz. You will need to be logged into AMOS using your Moravian email and network password.
Meal plan selections/availability are based on your Housing selections. Once students become upperclass students and have the opportunity to live in Housing locations with kitchens, they can opt for our Silver or Bronze meal plan as well, and that can also be completed in the Meal Plan portlet in AMOS: https://amos.moravian.edu/ICS/Campus_Life/Student_Life/Meal_Plan_Selection_Portlet.jnz
Commuter students can add a meal plan at any time here.
- Log into AMOS using your Moravian email & NET ID password.
- Select the meal plan you prefer
- Follow the prompts to enter payment information
What are Hound Bucks?
Hound Bucks (formerly Additional Dining Dollars) are a declining balance account that is independent of a meal plan. They are also loaded onto a student's ID card like a meal plan. If a student has BOTH Hound Bucks and a meal plan, they will need to specify upon checking out which tender they prefer to use.
Hound Bucks are usable in any dining location like a debit account. If a student purchases $10.50 worth of food in the Blue & Grey Café, that exact amount will be debited from their account. Hound Bucks can also be used to pay the door rate at The Star or Clewell. Because they are independent of a meal plan, Hound Bucks do not expire (until you leave the University permanently or graduate) - so if you have funds left over at the end of one academic year, they will remain in your account through the following year.
When you add Hound Bucks to your account, you automatically get a 10% bonus of free dollars on purchases from $1-$199, and 20% free dollars if you add $200 or more - so you get even more for your money! They are a great alternative to a traditional meal plan for Commuters, or a great add-on for resident students for extra snacking/purchases/stocking up the fridge.
See the next tab to learn how to add Hound Bucks to your account.
How do I add Hound Bucks?
Hound Bucks are easy to add anytime during the semester using the Unversity's student account system called eAccounts.
First, go to the eAccounts page here https://moravian-sp.transactcampus.com/eaccounts/AnonymousHome.aspx (username is your Moravian email, password is your network password).
- Your available accounts will display on the Home Screen
- Select "Add Money" under your Hound Bucks account.
- Select "Specific Amount" or "Balance Top-Off"
- Indicate "Deposit Amount"
- Select "Credit Card"
- Complete Billing info and submit
- Click the Finalize Deposit button to complete your transaction and deposit the funds.
Note that your 10% bonus will automatically be applied. If you are purchasing $200 or more, the additional 10% bonus will be manually applied to the student's account in 2-3 business days. Hound Bucks (added independently of a meal plan) will not expire until your student leaves Moravian University permanently/graduates.
Parents can log in and add money as a guest. Visit https://moravian-sp.transactcampus.com/eaccounts/AnonymousHome.aspx, select "Make a guest deposit" and follow the prompts to add your student's account number and payment information.
I tried to add Hound Bucks to my account, the transaction said approved but no money was deposited. Now what?
There is one last step that many people miss - the Finalize Transaction button. If, after following the steps to add Hound Bucks, and you received a green check mark with "Approved" below it, but you do not click the Finalize Transaction button in the bottom right of the final screen, a hold will be put on your credit card that will disappear in 2 days, but no funds will be deposited.
You should go back through the steps again to finalize the deposit/add funds.

I have food allergies/intolerances/sensitivities. How can you help me?
Moravian University Dining locations are equipped and dedicated to accommodate customers who have food allergies, Celiac disease, or other dietary needs. Our managers communicate daily with customers, in order to provide safe, healthy, and delicious options.
For the safety of students with peanut or tree nut allergies, we do not use any products containing peanuts or tree nuts in our kitchens in The Star and Clewell.
For students with other allergies or sensitivities, we offer our award-winning Simple Servings station on campus in The Star, which features separate prep and cooking areas. All of the recipes at our Simple Servings station exclude the top 7 allergens: milk, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, shellfish, peanuts and tree nuts. This is a popular station for students as well because the majority of the menu features healthful lean proteins, vegan vegetables and whole-grain sides.
If you or your student has food allergies, we strongly encourage a conversation with our Registered Dietitian Sue Hurd, our Executive Chef and our General Manager. Please see our more detailed information about dining on campus with food allergies/intolerance here: https://moravian.sodexomyway.com/explore/foodallergy.
